Thread Lifts

Thread lifts are non-surgical procedures designed to lift and tighten sagging skin on the face and neck. This technique involves inserting dissolvable sutures or threads into the skin, which are then used to lift and reposition the targeted areas.

During a thread lift procedure, threads are inserted beneath the skin using a fine needle or cannula. The threads typically have small cones, barbs, or sutures along their length. These features help to anchor the threads in place and provide lifting and tightening effects when they are pulled or manipulated.

Once the threads are inserted, they are gently pulled to lift and reposition the sagging skin. The threads also stimulate collagen production in the treated areas, which helps improve skin elasticity and firmness over time. The threads gradually dissolve over several months to years (depending on the material used), but the collagen that forms around them helps maintain the lifting effect.

Thread lifts offer several potential benefits:

Non-surgical: Thread lifts provide a non-surgical alternative to traditional facelift surgery. They are less invasive, have a shorter recovery time, and do not require general anaesthesia.

Lifting and tightening effects: Thread lifts can help lift sagging skin and improve facial contours. They are commonly used to address jowls, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and sagging eyebrows or cheeks.

Collagen stimulation: The insertion of threads stimulates collagen production, which improves skin elasticity and further enhances the lifting effect.

Natural results: Thread lifts can provide natural-looking results, as they work with the body’s own collagen production and gradually improve skin quality over time.

Customisable: Thread lifts can be tailored to each individual’s needs. The number and placement of threads can be adjusted to achieve the desired lifting and rejuvenation effects.

It is important to note that thread lifts may not be suitable for everyone, and the results can vary depending on factors such as the individual’s skin condition and the skill of the physician performing the procedure. Some common side effects include temporary swelling, bruising, or discomfort at the treatment site.

If you are considering a thread lift, it is advisable to schedule a consultation with Dr Donald Ng who can evaluate your specific concerns, discuss the potential benefits and risks, and determine if you are a suitable candidate for the procedure.
